About

// I am a filipina currently living in Seattle.  I was born in the Philippines and have lived there for 22 years. I took a big step and moved to Seattle where I now live.  Since then, I developed a love for food and photography.  Though I am not a chef, I enjoy cooking and trying out delicacies everywhere I go.  I believe that food is a reflection of culture and what better way to dig deep into one’s culture than to eat their food?  Some of my fondest and treasured memories were shared with my family and friends around our dining table. This blog is about food yes, but more than that, it is about creating memories you surround yourself with. This blog will also track my journey to taking better pictures.  I love collecting cookbooks and looking at creative food shots which gives life to the words of the recipe. It was love at first sight for me.

Hi Elaine! Thanks for checking out my blog! I wanted to see what you were about and I LOVE your passions! :) BEAUTIFUL pics and great recipes. I can’t wait to try the chicken adobo because I’ve only had it once and it was delicious. My dad is Hawaiian and I love it when he makes Filipino food (Unfortunately, he’s never written down any recipes). Thanks and I’ll be back to check out your recipes!! :)

Thanks Kerri! chicken adobo brings me back to my hometown and I hope you will like the recipe! There are many variations and this particular one was how my mom make it. Let me know if you have any questions! Looking forward to reading your blog as well :)

Hi Elaine! Your blog is wonderful! I, too, am Filipina and I lived in Seattle for almost 3 years – from 2001 to 2004. It’s still one of my favorite cities. I’ll be following you.

Your food photography is beautiful, professional. I’m in Hawaii, but have relatives in Seattle, so get there occasionally and will have a chance to try some of the restaurants mentioned.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a “like”! I’m so glad it brought me to your blog- it’s wonderful. :-) I’m a total foodie, too, and now I really want to do your foodie penpal thing! Incidentally, I just read that you’re in Seattle, where I used to eat delicious Nanaimo bars. I’m in Luang Prabang, Laos right now, and less than a block from my guesthouse is a coffeeshop that sells them!! I can’t even get them at home in Chicago, but they’re here in Laos. Amazing. :-) Looking forward to reading more of your posts!
